Dutch men infect 14 others with HIV

2 Dutch men are accused of drugging men at sex parties and injecting them with HIV. Crazy.

Here's a problem:

How many American men and women have died from this "chronic illness"? We should educate the Dutch.

The Dutch know all about HIV and its prevention. Their model programs have been adapted all over the globe, including in the US.

I think they mean that HIV, its self, won't kill you; however, it will compromise your immune system so that an opportunistic disease, which would otherwise not harm anyone, could kill you. HIV is a chronic illness that paves the way for a lethal infection of another disease (one that wouldn't normally be harmful with a healthy immune system); HIV doesn't do the killing.
In a "germ" free environment (almost non existent) you could technically survive with HIV.

The behavior is disgusting, nonetheless.

No. What they mean is that with treatment advances the mortality rate for people with HIV has dropped significantly.

I understand that HIV won't necessarily kill you once you are administered proper treatments. But 5 and 9 years seems like a slap on the wrist. These men are sick, it's pathological, something like serial killing though not actually killing, though it compromises the victims and potentially kills. It was premeditated, calculated and unconscionable. But it all depends on Dutch law, which I am not up on at all.

That is absolutely psychotic. They must be mentally ill. I wonder if it was some sort of revenge crime.

While infecting the victims with HIV may not currently be grounds for attempted murder, if anyone ends up dying from HIV-related complications, I would think they could then be charged with murder. I don't know Dutch law, but here I believe it is possible depending on how they file the initial charges.

I agree Mr. Matt. If one of them dies the men should be tried for murder.
