Edited: Correction of name of network. Sorry. I forgot which one I was watching last night. It's on right before back-to-back episodes of "Dharma & Greg".)
I forgot how much fun this show is. Very 80s but very cute and fun.
I loved the vignettes at the beginning of the show!

I bought the DVD on Tuesday and it's great. Season two should be released soon - there is an episode from season two included as a sneak peak, so it bumps it up to seven episodes sort of. Kelsey Grammer is in the first episode as Allies first date - it's pretty funny to see him when Kate opens the door.
It's funny now that I am an adult watching it again, I always loved the show as a teen, but now as an out gay man I totally see things differently. Lots of veiled gay humor that may not have been intentional - and yet there is so much of it, that it seems almost planned. Great show. And one of the best theme songs written...lol.

I seem to remember Jane Curtain not being let off to go to the Emmys the second time she won.

Kate and Allie is on Oxygen? I had no idea. I loved this show.
Once, there was a "special" episode that my mother wouldn't allow me to watch. I couldn't figure out why and I was instantly curious. I finally saw it (not long after it had been denied me) and it was the episode where Kate and Allie pretend to be lesbian lovers so that they won't be in violation of Kate's lease. I must have been about ten or twelve years old and for the life of me, I couldn't figure out why I wasn't allowed to watch that episode.

Don’t forget Newhart nestled in between the two; my mother and I were glued to CBS every Monday!
Apparently there’s a Canadian set (Region 1) coming out next month that includes both the first and second seasons of Kate & Allie (for not much more money than the US first season set).
