Once again the problem with polls:

They never poll people they think will not answer the way they don't wnat them to.

Not exactly, Rodney. MSNBC doesn't select the sample; the sample is self-selecting. But no matter what, the outcome is the same: website polls can't be trusted. Which they say themselves when they tell you they're "unscientific."

I know it's unscientific, but isn't it curious that Edwards is the clear winner on pretty much every other poll as well?

As unscientific as licking your finger and sticking it in the air to see if the wind has shifted.

Edwards came off as personable, open, intelligent and an all around great guy who you wouldn't mind istting ina meeting with. Cheney was obnoxious, and, like Bush, seemed peeved that anyone would dare question him.

Edwars seems to have the lead in all the polls. If anyone reads otherwise; can you post a link?

Here's CNN:

Who do you think won last night's vice presidential debate?
Vice President Dick Cheney 37% 8647 votes
Sen. John Edwards 63% 14661 votes
Total: 23308 votes

re: Edwards Clear Winner of Debate

O'Reilly mentioned on his show 4 different polls- 2 said that Edwards won (I believe that those were mentioned here) and another 2 that said Cheney won. I don't remember the exact polls or where they came from- but there are definitely a couple of polls listing Cheney as the winner.

You know better than to use Fox as a source for anything. But thanks for the info re: Edwards Clear Winner of Debate

His friggin' radio show, people!

Didn't the Fox News polls have Edwards winning too?

Oy. I am just stating that he mentioned it, and no matter how much you hate him- he'd get people running after him if he made up polls and poll numbers. The 2 polls were NOT from Fox News that he mentioned.

Actually papa that's not true. I voted in both the MSNBC and the CNN polls, and once you register your vote, you're not permitted to vote again using the same computer. The website recognizes your IP Address and doesn't offer you the option to vote. This is true even if you sign off and then back on again. And no, that's not what I was trying to do. As I stated in a previous post, I thought the debate was more evenly matched than Bush/Kerry, and I also thought it was pretty much a draw. So, I was as surprised as anyone else to see that so many people actually felt that Edwards had won. Surprised... but delighted!

john edwards will sacrifice your children to the volcano gods

that's not been my experience, curtain. last time i took part in one it just sent a cookie which you can trash and vote again and happily repeat the process over and over and over.

Oh... so that's how you did it. john edwards will sacrifice your children to the volcano gods Maybe you're right. The only thing I know about cookies is how to eat them. It would never even occur to me to go to such extremes just to register multiple votes on a news channel's website. But, no doubt, there are people out there who would.

actually i figured that out thanks to bww.com. i was having trouble wiht the site and someone suggested to me that i "delete my cookies." after cursing them out, i found out what they meant. it wiped out all the little tracking files stuff that sites send to you. you can also just disable your cookies and that allows you to just vote over and over and over again. over on the kerry blog back in the primaries they were accusing the deaniacs of doing it during iowa and then later they suggested the freepers were pulling the same shenanigans. basically, any of those online polls that suggest, "click here for your choice" are pretty much useless as an indicator of anything other than how popular that particular poll was.
