Greece was a very deserving winner. Political and neighbourly voting doesn't play a huge part anyway - if it did, how come Ukraine came 1st last year, but only 20th this year? Would the same country not win every year? So you see, it really is about the song!

i was never dissing Greece! They had a good song and it was performed really well, personally i think Malta was the best. I am not saying we deserve to win but even if we didnt put loads of money in surely we should have the right to be judged fairly. The Iraq war was terrible and a lot of people in the UK didn't agree with it... but we don't vote against someone because their region had more people who agreed with the war! I just find it disgusting that in todays society people can be so petty. Also, not being funny, but i find it annoying that we were blatently better than 90% of the entries and it was obvious to EVERYONE.... phone voting must have malfunctioned or something * bemused sarcastic look*
The whole contest:

musical_il, this is fantastic, you are a treasure !!!
Beergoggles, I fully agree that it is a disgrace when people vote politically in a music contest !!! Unfortunately, that is the way some people think. In the head of some narrowed-minded people, the UK was the only European country that fully sided with the U.S. on this war and that is a reason enough to hate it. It doesn't cross their minds that millions of British people were opposed to that and that music UNITES people ! I hate it, because I love both the U.K and the U.S, but I am in the minority !!! I can distinguish between people and their governments. Unfortunately, not many people do ! And of course you have every right to prefer Malta, it was a great song !
I love those logos, musical_il!
Iceland deserve to win it too - and should have done MUCH better this year! It was a great, great song and it is a mystery to me why it didn't qualify for the final. Iceland came second with the same singer in Jerusalem in 1999, and should have done equally well this year. Do you remember the '99 contest, musical_il? Israel did a great job!

You're right, Like i say Greece were really cool! I'm looking forward to seeing the show, especially after the brilliant job you did with the Olympics... twas very impressive! Hopefully by next year people will see it from our point of view and vote fairly... other than that there not a lot that can be said!
