The Love Boat...
Who was your favorite guest star?
(oh, and drinks on the Mojito thread for all...)
SOMMS has covered what I ordered.
SOMMS always does that CK.
It's a horrible show, and I could barely get through a single showing. There was one train-wreck of an episode that I recall that had Ethel Merman, Carol Channing, Ann Miller, Van Johnson, and others on it. I couldn't take my eyes off that.
I hated the Love Boat. I could not wait for Fantasy Island.
THE PLANE. THE PLANE!
of course it was horrible! It was the 70's!

Say what you will about the Love Boat, but dang did it keep actors employed.
I saw a special on The Love Boat where Aaron Spelling claimed that the 2 people he wanted most on the show, he never got - Larry Hagman and Julie Andrews.
I still treasure my crumbling videotape of The Love Boat Follies!
Ethel Merman, Carol Channing, Ann Miller and Della Reese all singing "I'm the Greatest Star!" (Which one do you think won?)
And Ethel nailing "What I Did for Love"--to a cross! Yikes!
I'll take
to block, Peter...

PalJoey - out of that line-up, I'd pick Ann Miller.
I remember an episode, when Ray Bolger was on. He and his wife (whom I forget) were survivors of the Titanic.

Donny Osmond even guest starred once. He played Loni Anderson's brother.

my favorite regular had to be Teri Hatcher as one of the Love Boat Mermaids...added late in the run.
i'm old enough to recall the show's debut, and how torn i was to decide between the legendary CBS Saturday night line-up (ALL IN THE FAMILY, MARY TYLER MOORE, BOB NEWHART always, and sometimes MASH, DOC, ALL'S FAIR and others through the passing years) and the counter-programming of LOVE BOAT on ABC. This was before VCR's were so common. Then it was always back to CBS for Carol Burnett in the last hour of prime time, then to NBC for SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE.
i watched A LOT of TV as a teenager. i can even recall dates where we'd see the 5 or 6 pm movie, grab a quick dinner out, then get back for at least SNL if not Carol Burnett and making out on the couch. *sigh*
Teri is my avatar!
The one episode I remember best was when this lady (can't remember her name) comes on the ship and has the hots for Gopher, and then he finds out that she used to go to school with him, and she was a him, and they were friends. I was enthralled by that episode... wonder why?
Ann Miller it was, DGrant!
But only because Annie was more comfortable in front of a camera. Onstage, I'm sure Merman would have been creamed her.

PalJoey - at the very least drowned her out!
I think I would also vote for Charo as best recurring - no matter what, she kept it lively.
I second the Charo vote...
