God, do I hate these chaps. They are everything that is wrong with reality TV, bitchy queens and the human race in general.

Love these guys! We stopped by their little mountain town on our way to a vacation in Syracuse a couple years ago. They happened to be having a harvest fest on Main St. We went into their shop to buy some of their soap and cheese & they were there filming. I met Brent and actually ended up being in the episode. 'Twas cool.

If you Hulu the episode, I'm the guy in the Gypsy TShirt who snatched up all the cheese before Rosie O'Donnell (also there) could get any.

I saw that episode when it first aired. I met Brent at Williams-Sonoma last year and found him quite nice. Then I saw their show and really didn't care for him all that much after that.

I confess I kind of loved the show (and the book). But if I were Josh I'd have taken a meat ax to Brent a long time ago.

He does play very neurotic and bossy on the show and I often root for them to break up. But I'm pretty sure it mostly staged drama. Neither appeared to be anything like that in person.

So no one else feels like it's insulting to your intelligence that their show is patently unreal and being sold as reality?
And I am sorry but there is nothing likeable about either of these guys.

Yes. I agree with your first sentance. But I think I stopped expecting reality from reality shows a long time ago...probably by season 3 of The Real World. So it doesn't bother me. I like to watch it because my partner & I are city folk who often talk about finding a simpler country life. So it's amusing to us to watch what is essentially no more than Lucy & Ricky move to the country...but gay.
As for your second thought. I think they're a hot dysfunctional mess. But I like them...the series shows enough of the humanity underneath each of them to make me ultimately empathize with them. And, as I said, I don't know that their real life personalities are anything like the characters they play on TV. It didn't seem so to me when I met them. Now Rosie, that B anuthur storee.
