So what's the deal with this? You can now add "details" about how you know each of your Facebook friends, but I don't get the point. Is this something only you will see, or is it something others can somehow view?
Someone enlighten me.
Other people can see these as well. It shows how you met such a person and the story behind it.
If you met a person through a person and they have a Facebook profile, their name will be a hyperlink to their respective Facebook.
There's really no point but to see how you meet people, etc!
I think it's cute.

I don't really get the feature, either, but its only logical that they add it, since they have everything else. Meh, I added info for everyone I'm friends with.
yeah facebook is getting all detailed now....

Yea its interesting and i dont really understand the point of it. This guy wrote detail that said "we hooked up in 2005 and it was awesome." I think its funny.
Yeah, there are drop down menus with various options that you can click and choose - "took a course together", "met randomly", "I don't even know this person", "went to school with this person", just to name a few.
Almost all of these have more choices and fill in the blanks (such as the story on how you met) when selected.
I don't get it at all... I'm not filling in the details.
I have a fake profile as Kate Monster at Western Michigan University... people keep saying they know Kate through other people. I think that's interesting, since no one actually knows her... oh, whatever.
So I can view the details for how one of my friends knows someone else?
I don't get it.
I'm not sure about that. I'm pretty sure you can.
WEll this guy from my college was friending me and he was friends with one of my best friends from high school and I as curios as to how they knew eachother, and thanks to that feature I knew so I friended him.
Sounds to me like they're getting desperate to keep people using facebook. I used to be a poster child for the damn thing - on it 24/7, constantly friending people (though only those I knew), updating my profile, procrastinating...and I just ran out of things to do. Sure, I'll get the random message (or poke), and every now and then a new friend request comes along, but that's about it.
Now, I sign on and I've got 20 details to confirm...and it does bring about the same "rush" of sorts I used to get when I had friend request awaiting confirmation.
I know that they don't have to worry about lacking in membership as they are constantly adding new schools and getting new classes, but I do think they're trying to keep current members from losing interest.
They've also added the "Pulse" section, which I actually think is pretty cool.
i like making up the most random and humorous ways to meet people on facebook
This is actually pretty cool - you can sort your friends list or the list of whoever's profile you're viewing by how they know each other. I've actually managed to find some of my classmates from elementary school this way - looked at the friends list of one of my elementary school friends and sorted it to show friends she met back then.

that is a cool use for the feature. I know one of the things I like about facebook is it lets me keep in touch w/ all of my old friends from HS... elementary school is like ages ago for me, but it'd be cool if I could dig up some friends from that far back, who I've lost contact w/.
Flowery, I am friends with your Kate Monster persona. Small world, eh?
Facebook's always coming up with new gimmicks.
I dunno, I usually end up writing something really nonsensical with the 'how you know someone' details...
