Fake Pay Pal Email is Spamming My Inbox
#0Fake Pay Pal Email is Spamming My Inbox
Posted: 2/17/06 at 8:02amI keep getting emails in my university email to "Please Restore My Account Access" for Pay Pal. I do not even have a Pay Pal account. It keeps flooding my account...this morning when I woke up I had to have at least just under 10 new messages. I have added the email to my blacklist, and applied filters and blocks, following directions, but nothing is working...for some reason it is letting the email through even though it is the same email. I also contacted my school, but nothing there. I also contacted Pay Pal as to what I can do about this and they directed me to their "Security Center" which also offered no help...is anyone having a problem like this and what else I can do? I give up, this is so annoying because it appears as I have new messages, and sometimes, even when I click them, they still appear as unread.

Posted: 2/17/06 at 8:04amI have the same problem and yes it is very annoying. I will get about 3 or 4 per day...I just delete them. I have them on the spam list but they keep coming back. IDK... :)

Posted: 2/17/06 at 8:06amThey're a menace, along with fake ebay emails, asking you to update your account. The hilarious thing about the paypal one is that it's littered with really obvious spelling errors. Bless.

so? It happens to everyone....just delete them, or stop using the internet. and only 10? sheesh...I have perhaps 100 spam a day......just delete
You'll also get them from banks, perhaps even yours. Just run your cursor over the link they want you to click on and you'll see it isn't even them.
key point........never click on anything that you know nothing about

That's what I have been doing...and I've gotten more than 10, I was just talking about in the course of a couple of hours. I get a lot of other spam also in my hotmail account (which tends to get a lot of spam)...but when you're getting the same continuous message in your university account, I get suspicious...someone must've hacked into the system or something because I am not the only one around campus getting these emails. I should be able to block it somehow, but it's not working.

Posted: 2/17/06 at 10:16amI love these things (especially eBay ones) I respond with a fake user ID and password, and when they ask for a credit card number, I make that up to.

Posted: 2/17/06 at 10:26amYea...they're always asking me to "update my account" because it has been "accessed by a third party". It keeps sending me some telling me I need to secure my credit card # by updating it...it's really annoying...lol.
