Brilliant movie. Easily one of Bergman's finest.

thoughts?

I've not seen this one since its original release.
I remember the photography being very beautiful.
The scene with them holding hands and prancing around the house singing stands out.
I saw 'Fanny and Alexander' with my Norwegian bf.

I love FANNY AND ALEXANDER. I loved it when it was first released in this country, and countless re-viewings have only strengthened that. It really is very nearly perfect in every way. I loved the original release, and I love the extended television version that the Criterion Collection has released on DVD. I think it is easily the best of the Bergman films that I've seen, in that it never descends into easy gloom-and-doom.

someone wrote on the imdb wall that they think F&A is possibly one of the finest European movies ever, I do not disagree.
