....and I love her in Ship of Fools!
LOL lildogs!
I believe if I had walked in on Danny K. and Larry in the sack I might have gone batty too!
Oh Glebb, I ADORE Vivien!!
Hi Rath!
I'm in the hotel (in Fayetteville) and Rebecca is on!
Must be TCM.
Hi dancer boy! How's Fayetteville?
Danny K and Larry???
I am watching Kay Francis at her best in In Name Only. Mrs Danvers frightens me.
*gasp!*
Rebecca! I adore it.
Glebby, glad you got there safe and sound!
The town is charming and dinner was good.
The theatre though pretty is kind of small.
No chandelier in the party scene, no balloon for Clara to fly away at the end. The stage looks hard. Not sure tomorrow is going to be very pretty.
Oh dear. Well, if anyone can make it look pretty... :)
No balloon? Oh how sad.
But, I echo what Rath said. If anyone can make it look pretty, it will be you!
Vivien in her Cleopatra shift or Scarlet ball gown could make it look pretty.
But, can she dance?
I hear she's very expensive though, so it's really down to you.
Vivien was not a terrible dancer as Myra.
oooh, Glebby. TCM now has 'Suspicion' with Cary Grant and Joan Fontaine!
Yay Addy!
I've never seen this!
It has some of my favorite lines!
The swell of the violins!
"Well, well. You're the first woman I've ever met who said yes when she meant yes. "
and don't you just LOVE all the characters names? I adore this film!
I hope to God I get TCM in the next hotel.
Meet Me in St Louis is on now and a Ginger Rogers special is on tonight.
Ginger Rogers on TCM right now!
Flying Down To Rio.
Fred and Ginger's first pairing! Enjoy!
My favorite old feud is Olivia D. and her sister Joan Fontaine. A dear old (departed) friend of mine, also a young star, was in the ladies room at a huge Hollywood party in 1944. She was "in the stall" as they say, and heard Olivia come in first, then Joan. She said the language they used would've made your hair curl. An incredible cat fight. They went at it for several minutes, until they realized that Hedda Hopper was in the ladies room with them. (No, I'm not making this up.)
Ms. Hopper didn't hesitate to mention it in her column the next day. It was one of the last times they were ever seen together (if not THE last time).
And to think it all started because Joan beat Olivia out for Best Actress in 1940. That sounds so pathetically trivial, but it's true. Olivia went on to win 2 Oscars later on, but the damage was done, and irreparable. And both of them are still alive! One in Paris and one in London. It's a Tale of Two Sisters.
Just re-read these posts; of course Joan was nice to Gail Patrick, lesbi honest...
And I LOVE Gail Patrick! She's both haughty and slutty AND a heart of gold! She's great in both Godfrey and Stage Door...and looks great--did Adrian ever dress her? She seems like a natural for his style.
