Posted: 2/26/05 at 10:02amI got the chance to see 13 Ghosts with the glasses, it was really cool. I would have to say that The Tingler is my favorite though. I love the change from black and white to color, but that whole scene just freaks me out, as does the last scene.

Castle was great with gimmicks
For The Tingler, certain movie seats were wired & when Vincent price says scream for your life those patrons got a mild shock
This was what I miss about the movies. The movies of that era, the showmanship of the producer/director & the gimmicks.

Posted: 2/26/05 at 11:37amGoing to a William Castle film was a great deal of fun. An event. Lots of excitement, standing in the line, waiting to buy tickets. I remember crawling under my seat, during HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL, when the skelton, semmingly, came out of the screen and flew over our heads. It was VERY scary to us, at the time. THE TINGLER was another blast. Unfortunately, I wasn't in one of the rigged seats; but it was still a blast to hear people screaming because they were getting zapped! HOMICIDAL had a "coward's corner", in the theater, bathed in a spotligt and painted yellow, for those who could not sit through the ending. If you went to the corner, you got your money back. I didn't see anyone do it; but it was still great fun.

With Mr Sardonicus, you were given cards with Thumbs Up on 1 side & Thumbs down on the other. It was the punishment poll
I will not give the ending away. Suffice it to say near the end of the flick, Castle comes on & tells people in the audience to hold up either side of the card to decide how the movie ends. Obviously ( or may not to some ) only one ending was shot. You still had to love it
There is a book out about Castle, long out of print, titled something like " I'm Gonna Scare The Pants Off of (either America or you)"
