In THE WIZARD OF OZ (MGM, 1939) there is a continuity problem with one of the principle characters. Which one is it and what's the problem?

That's so gay. As the original Bulldog said, "Why does everything have to be gay gay gay all the time?" (Not you Jose, the original Bulldog.) But who else but a gay man would know about Judy's ever-changing pig tail lengths? Short, long, medium, long, short. Gay gay gay.

is it the length of dorothy's hair that changes from short to long after the emerald city back to short?

hmmmm, is it a coincidence that right after namo says "gay" three times that robertactor mentions length? i think not!

once again finding a way to turn every thread into one long, thick, pulsing sexual innuendo!

When Dorothy et al are in the Witches forest, The Wicked Witch of the West tells the Leader of the Wonged monkeys, "I've sent a little insect to take the fight out of them so they won't be any trouble" (or something like that)..this was to lead into the cut "Jitterbug" number.

Here are a couple of other continuity problems or little details in Wizard of Oz you might not have noticed:

- When Dorothy is running to oil the Tin Man, the oil can falls out of her basket. In the next shot, the oil can is back in the basket.

- You'll notice a three shot of Dorothy, the Scarecrow and the Tin Man after the Witch has threatened them, that has a slightly fuzzy quality. The Scarecrow and the Tin Man were on the opposite sides of Dorothy in the shot, following the abandoned "beehive" sequence, and so for continuity when that scene was cut or never filmed, the image had to be reversed.

- The purple "horse of a different color" can't stop licking himself. (Can't remember if I heard they used food coloring or jello to color the horses.)

- Judy Garland trips on the lion's carpet/robe during the "If I Were King of the Forest" processional, and she barely stifles a laugh.

- At one point prior to the Witch sending off the Flying Monkeys, the head monkey (his name escapes me, but he has a name), hands the Witch a gold piece of fabric, which she throws down. The line where she had asked him to bring the object was cut. As it stands now, he hands her an item that you've never heard her request.
