This movie has nothing to do with Christmas or my brother, but I sure did like it. I think I even felt a few tears wail up. That Johnny Depp is some talent.
Besides Saving Christmas, this is my favorite film of the year.

Looking forward to the film.
Hey, Mr. K... you know your humor reminds me of a poster here who goes by RightSaidRick. You guys should hook up. I can see it now.

Posted: 11/12/04 at 2:19pmimho i wasn't a huge fan of the film. I thought the acting was great (as would be expected from this cast!), the set design was beautiful and it was nicely shot, but aside from that, I thought it was too oversentimental. But I might just be too cynical for these kinds of movies.

Yes, sounds like you very well could be. The film was moving, touching and had such a powerful message. The young boy, who impressed Depp so much, will also be playing CHARLIE in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
I highly recommend this film if you believe in fantasy, imagination and love.

LOL ckeaton - you have no idea how right you are.
"believe in...love" Yep. That explains it.
I really did enjoy all of the performances, although I thought Dustin and Julie were greatly underused. (And Radha, for that matter.) I don't know if a lot of my issue had to do with the score of the movie. I just remember when ****spoilers**** Barrie sees the boys fly out the window, and when Kate is walking into Neverland, the score just swelled and I rolled my eyes.
On a positive note, I really did enjoy the scene where ***minor spoilers*** the orphans are watching Peter Pan. The awe and happiness on their faces made me almost tear. But the rest more or less left me cold.

Posted: 11/12/04 at 2:35pmI agree...I think the story is good. It was mostly the execution I didn't like. I'd be interested in reading the play it's based on.

If tiff needs anyone to "touch" her. I'm in line.
Gawd... I have to stop.

Just got back from NYC and seeing Finding Neverland. We thought it was just a great movie...Many tears.Especially for anyone who has ever lost someone close...Which I guess would be almost all of us.
Can not recommend this film higher.
All the performances were fantastic. The story...while much of it was fictionalized(according to the reviews)(not a J.M.Barrie expert)was so very touching and uplifting and totally satisfying to us...Go see it when it comes out near you!

Posted: 11/13/04 at 7:19pmI'm interested in seeing this; I love Kate Winslet. From what I've read of the movie, the storyline reminds me a bit of Geoff Ryman's book "Was", which supposes that L. Frank Baum wrote The Wizard Of Oz for an abused little girl he knew named Dorothy.

Not a dry eye in the theater. Very moving ! Highly recommend it!
