Such a horrific tragedy.
A reminder to most of us who attend performance spaces on a regular basis...take a few seconds to make a mental note of where the emergency exits are when you arrive. Natural instinct causes many people to try to exit the same way they came in when there is an emergency which is usually not the best decision.
Fire at Brazil nightclub
Are the fire codes in Brazil similar to the U.S.? The article mentions that hundreds were funneling through a single fire exit. If the space was so large that it can accommodate 500 people, are two exits enough? (The normal entrance, plus a fire exit?)
The article I read said that it can hold at least 2000, but none of the emergency exits were marked.
The fire codes are nothing like US.

It reminded of the fire here in Rhode Island at a club
Had to look it up. Very sad

First thing I thought of too, Wexy. Another case of people using pyro in an unsafe manner.
Just read that there were 2,000 people there, which was double the capacity.
This is really sad. Being from Brazil, all of this hits really close to home. Fire codes in São Paulo (the state I live in) became very strict after a huge fire on a office building in the early 70's. I'm not sure how they are in Rio Grande (the state where this happened).
