Wow, I love these guys, but these new incarnations just don't look right.

Not the same TLC they got "back in the day." Their faces are just "off" and the motion isn't right either.

Hmmm...

And that song sucks.

But other than that ...

I have a special place in my heart for all the Rankin Bass specials. And the Heat Miser and Snow Miser are two of my favorite characters from their catalogue. Paul Coker, Jr. designed these characters, and he lived (believe it or not) in my hometown in Kansas. He worked out of his house there. He was a friend of our family's and he came over to our house several times during my childhood. He was like a "god" to me. He would even sit there while he was talking with my parents and sketch for my brother and me. I still have his Frosty the Snowman that he drew for me while I was sitting there. He designed the original! Paul was a genius as an illustrator and character designer. In addition to all the Rankin Bass work he designed, he also drew regularly for Mad Magazine and Hallmark Cards (out of Kansas City). Paul also designed our high school mascot (the Lawrence Lion), as well as the modernized mascot of the Jayhawk for Kansas University, and both are still used to this day!

So, yeah, he was a "rock star" to me.

And these new likenesses just don't measure up to his work. Call me biased, if you want to.

*sigh*

But other than that, yeah, loved it.
