Fitz And The Tantrums

Was channel surfing last night and this band caught my attention immediately on PBS. I really liked their music. Didn't know their name and after some research found out who they were. Anybody aware of them? Am I really late to their party? They are actually doing a show next month in my city that I plan to see. Thoughts or opinions?

ArtMan, they are a great party band. They have an interesting pop/soul sound and are very enjoyable to watch live. We had the good fortune of seeing them live shortly after the opening of the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas. At that time (around 2010) they were a relatively unknown band and they were playing in the casino lounge, believe it or not. We just happened to be walking through the casino and heard them. I can't recall ever making a point to actually sit and listen to a lounge band, but this was something totally different. For one thing, they were playing almost all original songs, hardly any covers. They were exceptionally energetic and the whole (large) crowd was completely into them, even though their songs were really not known at that time. We stayed for the entire performance that night, we were so impressed with their talent and showmanship.
A short time later they finally started getting some radio airplay (I'm talking Sirius/XM) and their first album came out to positive reviews. They just released their second album last year. I would definitely go see them if they were in a smaller venue in my area. Although I do like their albums, this is the type of band that is much better appreciated live.
