I do not know if anyone else has been in the area but I went there today for the first time in quite a few months. It has no trace of footlight now.
It is now a Thrift Store. Across the street was an Armenian church . It was being torn down when last I saw it. In an imaginative reuse of part of the building, the front & spire were retained & now serve as an entrance for a condo where the main part of the church was. It is not connected and there is a space between that & the condo of about 100 to 150 feet. I never saw anything like it before.
I was thinking of trying to upload a picture much like my avatar but my camera gave out the last day in New Orleans so I have no camera now.
For the record Footlight still operates online and is owned by Bruce Yeko of Original Cast Records. I just ordered something from them yesterday. :)
When I lived on the Lower East Side I used to spend hours (and quite a few $$$) at Footlight Records. Sad to know the brick and mortar store is now just a memory.
^ agreed.
I used to spend hours in there.
"Times is changed."
"For the record Footlight still operates online"
Much like Playgirl.
Online is not the same as going there & looking thru their inventory
I also used to bs with one of the guys at the register. Just another memory now.
I know hon, but your officially gone statement is misleading.
I have made the necessary correction.
Half the fun of going in person was eavesdropping on all the Broadway gossip.
Wasn't there a whole thread on this store when it announced it was closing?
