Steve Howe was an amazing talent who could never control his demons.
"Former Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees relief pitcher Steve Howe, whose career was hampered by struggles with cocaine and alcohol, has died in a motor vehicle accident.
The 48-year-old Howe was killed when his pick-up truck overturned in Coachella, California on Thursday night, the Dodgers said on their official Web site on Friday.
A left-handed closer who was a first-round pick from the University of Michigan, Howe was voted National League rookie of the year in 1980 and helped the Dodgers clinch the World Series the following season."
