Apparently, with only a 1665 on the SAT, I am disappointing.
So, you know how sometimes it takes a long time to get something? I've had the Light in the Piazza cast recording for a while and not been able to get into it at all, and this afternoon I played it and started crying during "The Beauty Is."

Sorry to hear that, dancingthrulife, but you can always retake it, no?
Ashley, I totally get where you're coming from! It took me ages to appreciate the simple beauty of "The Story of Chess" as well (I know, I know!). One day, I kinda decided that Raul's rendition was effing brilliant.
I'm going to reatke it in October.

Good luck! Are you aiming for any specific score?
Exactly. You can have heard something a hundred times without it affecting you, and then all at once you realize how beautiful it is.
Raul's rendition is effing brilliant, when he doesn't start laughing over the, "Their mother cried, for no one really likes their offspring fighting to the death" line.

It's very much an understated brilliance.
although i have to admit that i like michael's better don't hurt me
Hah, I'm TOTALLY on happy drugs right now.
I'm not aiming for any specific score, just for better than I got.
dtl, most people I've talked to do considerably better the second time they take it. Good luck in advance on your retake.

I really need to do something active/work out this afternoon...I forget what a bum I become when I come home...

Yeah, I'm sure you'll kick some ass on your retake. I don't know how much one can really study for the verbal section, but I think that one's math score can be really improved by completing those math practice tests. The types of math questions that can be asked are much more finite than the types of verbal questions. Thankfully I was accepted into the college of my choice, but I probably could have done considerably better on the math section if I were to have studied more than a few hours.
Well, it really isn't a fair comparison considering the arrangments are so completely different from each other. If I were marooned on an island and forced to pick only one, it'd be Michael's rendition, but they're both brilliant in their own ways.
Hah, I apparently can't stop talking about Chess. You have no idea how worried I was that I was going to say something about Anatoly or Freddie while I was being put under.
I need to stop.
Hee. Only you, when faced with the prospect of surgery, would be worried about referencing Chess under anesthesia.
Pain medication is fun!
I cleaned out my gym locker today because I don't plan on going again for the rest of the school year.

That is oh so very true, Ashley. Actually, we talked about political science and baseball.
I should have never joined some sort of soundtrack community on LiveJournal. I'm downloading Julia Murney's solo CD. I feel strangely obligated to do so.
There's no scary belting, so I actually find it enjoyable.
I'm eating mixed nuts, but I only want the peanuts and cashews.

That's how I eat my mixed nuts too, Ash. I always pick through the mixed nut containers at parties and the like and make a mess. I also won't eat the edges of cheese or Pop Tarts.
Hah, I'm pretty weird.
So you've actually heard it? I just realized that she covered Joni Mitchell's "A Case of You," a song that I absolutely love. But... "I'm Not that Girl"?
I was on the verge of tears all day today.

I'm sorry, Elphie. That was me last night -- I was so worried! Anyway, care to share what's wrong?
Nothing's wrong. It's just...today was my last real day of high school. Ever. We start exams tomorrow. I am a really emotional person and am also in not really ready to leave high school. I held it together until bio, when we presented our exams. We had to write good things about each person in the class and present four of them in front of the class. I was crying in the first five minutes, and then when it was my turn to present, well, it wasn't pretty. We're all really close in that class. It was sad.

I have my 4 hour class. I hope she doesn't keep us the whole time.
How David Hasselhoff was EVER cast in a Broadway musical is beyond me.

I'm sorry to hear that, Elphie. I can't say that I had a similar experience with leaving high school, but I understand where you're coming from. Don't worry too much; anyone who's worth a damn will continue to communicate with you.
I was sick all morning, but I feel so much better now.
I'm sorry, Elphie. Just remember the good memories, and know that you have a whole 'nother chapter of your life ahead of you. And like Lexi said, you'll keep in touch with the people who are important. Feel better .
*hugs Elphie*
My e-mail is down. I feel like that's some kind of bad omen, since last time this happened to me, I had a virtual verbal assault waiting for me in my inbox.
My allergies are so, so bad today. They haven't been this bad in years. My head is pounding and I haven't stopped sneezing almost all day.
