For Those of You Who Have DVRs...
For Those of You Who Have DVRs...#1

I just got DirecTV service which came with a DVR.
I'm trying to figure this out.
Two questions:
1) When you record a program, is there any way to transfer them to DVDs?
2) Can you watch another program while something is being recorded?

I would assume if you have a DVD burner you could just burn it to a DVD like you would if it was off regular tv.
I think it depends on the type of DVR you have, but you SHOULD be able to watch something while something else is being recorded. On mine (which is through Comcast), I have a "swap" button on the bottom of my remote that switches between two tuners - so I can record on one, and watch something on the other.

I have that set up at our shore house. I love DirecTV, except when the weather is bad
With my dvr, I cannot transfer to a dvd. I would check with DTV if they may have an upgrade to a dvdr.
I can record 2 shows at once, so I can watch one and record another...the dvr ALWAYS records what you are watching (that is how it can pause and rewind, etc.)

Posted: 7/10/07 at 12:20pmYeah, I have a DVD recorder/VCR hooked up to the TV where the DirecTV DVR is. You have to watch it while it burns, though. It just burns whatever is on TV, like a VCR. And yes, it can record one program while you watch another. It can even record two channels at once, you just have to be watching one of them.

On my DVR you can record two channels at once and at the same time you can watch something that you have already recorded so you don't have to watch one of the channels that is being recorded.

To record 2 shows at once I think you need two lines coming in from the satellite and the receiver/recorder that has two inputs (pretty sure most have that now). I LOVE having DVR.
I know there is a way to transfer things to a dvd but you need a dvd recorder. I have never done it on mine.
