Free NYC subway

Theodore Kheel (who is 93 years old!) has proposed a plan that cars should be heavily penalized for riding on NYC streets in order to make mass transit subways and buses FREE!

If Al Gore and his minions are so fired up about global warming, they should put their weight behind this plan.

So what are the pros and cons of this idea?

Pro: Free subway.

Con: The homeless would live on them and there would be no room for everyone else.

Yeah, I hate when those homeless people make things inconvenient for those of us who thank heavens have places to live.

I thought about this but I don't think it would be any worse than it already is. Somehow the homeless get onto the subway system even when we pay. Would it be any worse than it already is?

ETA: I think it would become a haven for all the unemployed drum and guitar players.
