The P.C. police are now coming after NY Mets catcher Paul Lo Duca

He is in hot water over some totally innocuous remarks. The founding fathers are turning over in their graves

1984 is alive & well

^ Seriously.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

During a recent clubhouse interview re teamates skirting the "media burden" he said "I'm going to get to my locker on time" He went on saying Exactly what I said intthe clubhouse is I don't want to talk right now. There are other people in here who speak english"

He should be burned alive for these remarks

Here's a link...seems like a non-starter to me.
Lo Duca

Non-issue.

Watch in the coming days how much of a non issue it will become
The Mets organization is gonna do an Imus on him & use this as an excuse not to offer him a new contract

And all this proves what, exactly?

Go find a *real* issue, Roxy. Not some over-hyed saga-lite involving an overpaid baseball player and his snitty little parent organization.

And the media looking for a story and pissed off because someone is making hard to do the job.

I'm sure that there is some subtext here and it's difficult to evaluate what happened out of context.

And Roxy. You misunderstand the concept of free speech. Lo Duca is free to say whatever he wants, but the constitution doesn't guarantee that people have to like it or not react to it.

From what I read, this seems to be a non-issue - except for someone looking to make an issue out of it.

It reminds me of Sammy Sosa suddenly having troubles with English when if front of the Senate Committee on Steroids. That has been spoofed and commented on by everyone from SNL to ESPN.

All he is saying is that some of the ballplayers feign a lack of great English speaking skills in order to avoid doing interviews. And, there probably is truth in that.

Big deal.

I was told last night at the PC Policemen's ball that they would not be pursuing this.

As usual Roxy you flip it 180%-- this is a player urging the dominant conservative media to reach out to his hispanic team mates to present a more balanced world-view and their power to smear him into the ground (like they do Al Gore, say).

What a shame, but just another example of the opressive conservative media's supreme power to mete out justice.
