This post is mainly about the 1975 sequel "Funny Lady", but "Funny Girl" is also appropriate to discuss.
The musical numbers, are they based on historic accuracy or are they more of a product of 70s film-making?
All the numbers from "Crazy Quilt" - especially the "Million Dollar Baby" number with Fanny on the cigarette - was the opening REALLY that much of a total disaster?
Ben Vereen's number "Clap Hands" - I like it (especially the hands in the piano and such) but it seemed that maybe the orange, purple, blue color pallette was too modern.
And who knew that Billy Rose was responsible for Casa Manana here in Ft Worth? That was neat - but did the venue start as a proscenium? When did it switch to theatre in the round under the big silver dome? While I like Bass Hall, the silver dome did make designers think differently about everything.
"The theatre is so endlessly fascinating because it's so accidental. It's so much like life." - Arthur Miller
