how do you block a person (or delete them from your list) in g mail? (from sending you something)

I don't think you can actually block them, but you can set up a filter that will make the email go to directly to the trash folder.

Go to Setting and then to Filters. In the "from" box, type in the email address you want to block. Then click "create filter with this search." The next page says "When a message arrives that matches this search," so then check the "Delete It" box. Then any time that address emails you it will be deleted before you even see it.

Thanks, Phyll. I did that, and hope it works. Really, one can not undo a "contact"? Weird. What happens when the unwanted person "sends"? Does it bounce back?

You can undo a contact, but it won't prevent you from receiving mail from that person. The way I explained will send the email directly to your trash. It won't bounce back and the person won't know you set your filter that way, but you'll never see an email from that address.
