Democrats Stretch Lead in Vote for Congress
Fourteen-point Democratic lead is among the widest since 1994
by Lydia Saad
By a substantial margin, more Americans currently plan to vote for the Democratic candidate in their Congressional district than plan to vote for the Republican. The Republicans typically trail the Democrats among registered voters on this "generic ballot" question, but the Democrats' current 14-point margin is among the highest seen since the GOP won the U.S. House in 1994. Republicans have an advantage on turnout, which is why they have held the House, but this appears to be on thin ice.

It's so early. I won't be excited until it's official.

I'd take this a little more seriously had Tom Delay not won his primary. (while i realize it was a repug primary they still picked the criminal over anyone else)
Well, if that lead is still 14 points in September then people can start to get excited. People are very fickle and who knows what fabricated crisis will be created to rally people around the flag before November's election? Can anyone say Iran?
interesting, but i wonder if this was a generic national poll or more specifically geared to the regions of the 17 seats (at the present time, could end up being more) the gop will be defending in the house. even in a time when things look this bad, it's good for us republicans to note that the 17 districts in question are rated by the cook partisan voting index as +5 gop, meaning that they tend to vote republican 5% more than the nation.
well, that and stories like this one...
what's worng with the dems?
The only way the Republicans will win Elections in November is by stealing them.

which isn't beyond them PJ
and since charges of voter fraud cannot ever be definitively disproven to some people, rather than try to focus on developing winning messages that engage the american people (or at the very least finding themes with which they can identify) some democrats will bury their heads in the sand and continue to believe that simply being not a republican is enough, knowing that when they lose they can always wail, "but, but they cheated," and someone will take up their cause.
The idea that Democrats "don't have a message" is another Republican canard--the Orwellian Republican Noise Machine spewing out lie after lie after lie...
Democrats have 5 very clear goals right now (thanks, Bill Press!):
Iraq: Set a timetable for bringing the troops home.
Tax cuts: Replace Bush's tax cuts for the rich with tax cuts for the middle class.
Social Security: Make it secure and protect it.
Health Insurance: Provide it for 45 million Americans who don't have any.
National Security: Give first responders the tools they were promised by George Bush, but never received.
yep, that harry shearer guy that i linked to is somewhere to the right of fred phelps.
in fact, i think he's a charter member of the "orwellian republican noise machine."
Harry Shearer has bad teeth. This would not be a problem if Bush and Co. would provide universal health care to Americans.
Is Harry Shearer related to Norma Shearer? She had great teeth.
i will not stand idly by while you demean a member of the "orwellian republican noise machine," bway. especially not the voice of kent brockman!
Harry Shearer has bad teeth.

Harry Shearer has bad teeth.
There, I said it three times, will he appear in the mirror behind me in the bathroom and convert me to Republicanism?

"Democrats have 5 very clear goals right now (thanks, Bill Press!):"
Get as many illegal immigrants into the country as possible
Get socialized health insurance (even though Medicaid & Medicare have never worked; nor has it worked in Europe)
All United States policies have to be discussed with France, Germany and Russia and they must give their permission
Keep social security socialized until it goes bankrupt
Make sure that black people are kept on the plantation and don't allow them to gain any wealth
Bill Press also says: "But, to tell the truth, Democrats don't need a lot of ideas. In 2006, they've got something even more important going for them. In 2006, the one big, winning ticket for Democrats is very simple: They're not George Bush! That's all they need to win."
"Make sure that black people are kept on the plantation and don't allow them to gain any wealth"
That's just a weird thing to say.

especially since it's really more a republican agenda
*sigh*
and this was going so well...
I think it's going very nicely-nicely.
As Dolly Levi said, "You salt your beets, Horace, and I'll salt mine."
