It's the best online resource there is, and I hope you're not a rising senior because if you are, you're very late to just be beginning your research!

If you look around the board there's a lot of threads that will help you more than just asking again. A lot of people have generously typed out A LOT of detailed information on the best schools. So don't be afraid to hit the "next" button at the bottom of the board. I promise you'll find some great info
I hope you find what you're looking for!!

man i can't wait until people stop trying to decide which school is "better" than another.
different schools work well for different people. that's the reaosn this debate arises so often. maybe the people you know are perfect for otterbein, while others may do better in a CCM environment. everyone's opinions have to be taken with a grain of salt, even seasoned professionals'.
definitely feel free to say why you like one school over another -- but try not to put down any one school, for the sake of yourself and everyone else on the boards. you never know when someone goes there or has their heart set on it, and your opinion could really upset them.
that said, also contribute why a certain program isn't the best for you -- but make sure it's in opinion terms. for example: instead of "XX's dance program is terrible" try "XX's dance program wasn't what i was looking for". it'll cause a lot less grief and arguing.
just a few suggestions to keep things on a good level here.

Well put Sporti. I couldn't agree with you more. "Different schools work well for different people." Not everybody thrives at the "good musical theatre colleges". I know plenty of people who have dropped out because they don't like the school or it's too much to handle, and I also know people who have been cut from their schools because of a variety of different reasons. And you can't even really judge on what schools better than the other by saying, "Well...XXX has XX many graduates working on Broadway and XXX only has X many". There are plenty of OTHER performing opportunities besides performing on Broadway stages. And many MT college graduates go on to do just that. Doesn't make them any less successful.
That's what I have to say about the subject.

Posted: 8/23/06 at 11:11pmdo some research and find the school that works for YOU. It might not be the BEST program but it might be the one for you. When it comes down to it it's all about where you are going to thrive and improve yourself. It's all about talent when it comes down to it, so make sure you make the right decision for yourself and dont just go to a school because you think it's great, make sure you're comfortable there.

thank you SO MUCH edenespinozalover. it's really nice to get backup from someone on that. and i do believe you're going to a pretty prestigious school, right? just proof that going to a well-known/prestigious program means you believe you're above others, or that you're "full of it" -- it's just a program that works for you.
best of luck!! you must be leaving soon!

any musical theatre program will be rigorous. think about it -- you have to take voice, dance, and acting classes, as well as courses that look at the academic and production sides of theatre. on top of that you also have to take gen eds and electives, stay healthy and keep yourself in shape.
musical theatre = busy

You're very welcome Sporti. And yeah...we start class in a little less than a month.
And yet again, I'm agreeing with Sporti. ANY musical theater major is going to be working their ass off no matter what school he/she is going to. Musical theater isn't a major that you just glide through. You work your ass off.

Anyone serious about MT must look into Oklahoma City University. One if the best MT programs in the nation. I was there a few days ago and was blown away. The Mesiner acting class was amazing. Watching the voice class I learned so much. And the facility is the best in the US. Much better than CCM or NYU. They have a $38 million new building with all the latest music technology. But a building doesn't matter of you don't have the faculty to back it up and they do.
OCU is the first and foremost on my list. Distant seconds are BoCo and UCLA.

Posted: 8/27/06 at 4:56pmhow much does OCU cost?? That's my number 3 choice after CCM, and UMICH.....someone who went there told me that they don't have an out of state tuition. And don't you get a BM in MT than BFA at ocu cause it's in the wanda bass school of music?
