GREASE IS THE WORD

Got my letter through today for the open audition. Need a song from Grease and a song of my own choice (verse and chorus)
these are some of my ideas:

1.I can't stand still (footloose)
2. Tradgedy (Night Fever)
3. In whatever time we have (Children of Eden)
4. Greased lightning(Grease)

Not really sure what songs to sing, especially which song from the show. Can anybody help or suggest which ones are best or even suggest some more songs? Thankyou!!!

Ben

re: GREASE IS THE WORD

I'd say go with Greased lightning.

re: GREASE IS THE WORD

I don't know the non-Grease songs so I can't help except to tell you NOT to go with Greased Lightning! Never use a song from a particular show unless explicitly asked. Perhaps you should use a more rockish song, like one of the Rocky Horror songs with tamer lyrics (if there is such a thing... Time Warp, maybe?) or even a Rent song--What You Own would be great.

newsome_ben,

I was just in grease this past fall ( I played sandy ) I remember what the people going out for Danny sang.... ( and yes most did sing something from the show )

Greased Lighting

Those magic changes

Rock and Roll party queen

or anything else from the 50's.

I have all of the sheet music if you need it.

Good luck with your audition :)

re: GREASE IS THE WORD

hey!
had my audition, they said no for the role of Danny but they have asked me to come back to the private auditions for the role of Doody, so i have to learn the song 'magic changes' and a fiftys rock n roll song. Can any one give me any info on the role of Doody and maybe any ideas for a decent 50's rock n roll song. Thankyou!!!

Oh i ended up singing a verse and chorus of greased lightning and then 'i cant stand still' from footloose, he also then asked for a ballads so i sang a little section from 'you should be loved' from the musical sideshow. thanks for everyones help!!!

re: GREASE IS THE WORD

wooo I sang "Those Magic Changes" when I was in Grease. It's one of my favorite songs from the show.

Let's see, the part of Doody, he's more of the naive one of T-Birds, really innocent and kind of like.. boy-next-door type I guess but also comical??

Hmm.. for songs choice you could sing Hound Dog, Rock N' Roll Is Here To Stay, Rock Around The Clock, Peggy Sue.. Perhaps if you need more of a ballad you could sing Tears On My Pillow, Blue Moon, Unchained Melody, Earth Angel, etc.

Hope that helps!
Don't you wanna be the life of the party?

re: GREASE IS THE WORD

those magic changes is amazing, because it does absolutely nothing for the plot(then again most songs in grease dont) but the whole point is just to really showcase an amazing singer in the character of Doody
