glad it went well :)
i was bent over for about a week and a half after but i didn't take any pain killers after i left the hospital.
italian ice's were my best friends after i got home!
the cut near my belly button hurt the worst too. that's the cut where they put all the tools through so it's manipulated the most.

kinda bad news for me today. I had to rush back to the doctor (2nd time in 4 days) as my belly button incision is infected and the infection has not gotten any better. My doc says it is pretty serious. He said he has never seen anyone with an infection this bad after this "minor" surgery. He had to take samples of the infection and gave me a much stronger antibiotic which I am to start tomorrow. I have an appointment to see him Friday morning, and if this still has not cleared up by then or if it gets any worse before then it looks like it is back to the hospital for me.
Any good thoughts or prayers would be greatly appreciated, as all of this kinda freaked me out. I do NOT wanna have to go back to the hospital. i just want this whole surgery behind me.

Just follow the doc's instructions and don't try to do too much. If you don't start feeling better real fast, don't wait for Friday. You be sure and tell them and go in. Don't worry about going back into the hospital. You have to take care of yourself and if that means driving the docs crazy with calls, then do it!
Take care, sweetie and know that you're on my daily prayer list!

You know I am keeping a good thought for you Sam.
And as Mamie said, if it gets worse, don't wait!
I will be thinking of you!

Omigosh! I'm so sorry to hear about your infection.
One of my incisions was very tender/sore (it was one above the navel) and bothered me for a long time but never became infected.
Ouch!
I hope the antibiotics do the trick.
My fingers are crossed for you!

Thanks guys. I have been following my doc's directions to a T. It looks a little better today, but I can still see it is infected and it still hurts. But I am a little more positive now.
One more question for those that had this surgery:
After the surgery, did you get a bitter, burning, acidic taste in your mouth and throat for days in a row? If so, any tips on how to make it go away? It is driving me crazy.

Have you checked the medications to see if there are common side effects to any of them that would include those sensations?
Or, it may just be your body adjusting.
Make sure you mention it to your doctor!

Just wanted to add my sympathy for your current infection-situation (eek!), and also to let you know you have my good thoughts. Feel better soon, OK?

Yes! And I had a weird metallic taste in my mouth for the next year or so. It would coincide with stomach discomfort after eating foods that disagreed with me. And those food seemed to vary.
It's very infrequent now.

I had acid reflux before the surgery and actually take Prevacid for it. When I see my doc on Friday I'll mention it and see if he recommends upping my dosage or something.
beacon: I researched a bit online tonight and have wondered if it had to do with foods. This last week I've been trying more foods slowly to see how I react (especially the last 3 days when this taste started happening). I am starting to think coffee may not have been a wise choice...But you know, a week and a half without coffee was not fun.
I'm glad to know I'm not alone with this one.

GO TO ANOTHER DOCTOR. RIGHT AWAY. ASK YOUR OTHER DOCTOR TO SEND COPIES OF YOUR RECORDS.
An infection on and off for three years at the incision site is NOT normal.
