I could not believe this when I read it. Now we aren't even safe in our own establishments.
"A gay man was brutally beaten but fought back in an unbelievable bias attack inside Greenwich Village’s Stonewall Inn, the cradle of the gay rights movement, authorities said.
Two Staten Island men are facing hate-crime charges for allegedly hurling gay slurs and pummeling 34-year-old Benjamin Carver on Sunday in the bar’s bathroom, authorities said."

One of the attackers was 17? There is so much wrong with this.
Like a lot of bars in New York, you can just walk into The Stonewall Inn. There isn't a doorman. They check ID at the bar when you order.

Ah. That seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Is anybody brave enough to put out a 4chan hit on these gentlemen?
Most of the gay bars in Hell's Kitchen like Barrage, Posh and The Ritz only have a doorman checking ID's on Friday and Saturday night...the rest of the time you can just walk right in. I think the same is true for the bars in the village. I know they check ID at The Monster on Friday and Saturday...but of course they charge a cover on the weekend.

Weird. I don't think I've ever been in a Chicago bar that didn't card at the door.
I feel like Christians are being discriminated against when gay people assume that they should be safe in gay bars.
I have never felt like I had anything to fear when I was in a gay bar. There is very little threat of violence in a gay bar...at there used to be.

I don't expect to 17 year olds at a gay bar, either, but I don't live in New York.
A few years ago there was huge problem in some of the Hell's Kitchen bars with underage people getting in.
Posh on 51st and 9th really cracked down on it. I guess they got in trouble. Now...it doesn't matter how old you are. On Friday and Saturday night the door man at Posh will not let you in without seeing your ID. I have seen people who were clearly in their 40's be denied admission into the bar because they didn't have their ID because they never expected to be carded. Of course, why would you go anywhere without ID on purpose.
