Ai, ai, ai, ai
Have you ever danced in the tropics?
With that hazy lazy
Like, kind of crazy
Like South American Way
Ai, ai, ai, ai
Have you ever kissed in the moon light
In the grand and Glorious
Gay Notorious
South American Way
She's "The Lady in the Tutti Fruiti Hat".
Is it just me, or is the picture not working?
The picture works for me and so did Carmen!
Love those beads, but she is no Minnie from Trinidad...

millie, is this better?
I love the way she sings that song!
"Souse Ameddikan Wehy!"
I love that hat!
anyone know in what other movie this song was sung, and by who? (or is it whom?)
It's from a Broadway show, actually, back in 1939.
"South American Way," performed by Ms. Miranda is from a revue called "Streets of Paris."
The revue also featured Abbott & Costello and Gower Champion.
I have it on the "Front Row Center" Broadway gold box set.

correct, but that was not my question.....what MOVIE was it sung in, and by whom?
It was in Radio Days...
Didn't they all dance around to Carmen's song in the film (when it was played on the radio)?
Are you talking about Mickey Rooney in THE GANG'S ALL HERE?
Mickey sang "Mama Yo Quiero" in Babes on Broadway in full Carmen drag...
...did he do a Carmen spoof in other movies too?
You're right that is what I am thinking of. She sang 'The Lady In The Tutti Frutti' Hat in THE GANGS ALL HERE.

I used to play "Celito Lindo" on the accordion. And Ricky Ricardo sang it once on ILL.
nope, not the one I am thinking about.....
hint, it was a young girl who sang it.......
hint 2, Monty Beragon
I think I remember little Darla in "Our Gang" doing a spoof too... but I doubt that's what you're getting at.
IS... a puzzlement!
nope......
3rd hint and if people don't get it now, I will slap them.....
Ann Blyth did NOT sing it but was in the film
4th hint
Veda and Kay
Mildred Pierce???
EDIT: I have no recollection of that at all. Little Jo Ann Marlowe???
DING, DING DING....WE HAVE A WINNER!
next clue was going to be...
"You think just because you made a little money you can get a new hairdo and some expensive clothes and turn yourself into a lady. But you can't. Because you'll never be anything but a common frump whose father lived over a grocery store and whose mother took in washing."
yes Mildred Pierce, Kay sings it when she is dressing up, with Veda playing the piano
If I had a nickel for every person I wanted to say that quote to...
