Hello,
I have just been diagnosed with some gluten allergies. I will be visiting NYC for a long weekend and I have no idea where to eat. I will be in the Times Square as well as the Chelsea Market and Brooklyn areas. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!

Well, I don't know that there are many (or any) Gluten-free entire restaurants in the city, but there are many places that have Gluten-free menus. What kind of food are you into?

This place has two locations (one in the West 20's and one in the West 80's), and they have a lot of Gluten-free options: http://www.blossomnyc.com/site/

Also, I haven't been myself, but Sambuca on West 72nd has a Gluten-free menu.

Not quite in the areas you'll be in, but Slice on the Upper East Side has Gluten-free pizzas.

Because they're already so well-versed in dietary restrictions and allergies, many Vegan restaurants are really good about accommodating Gluten-free diets. This website is great for finding them: www.supervegan.com

Risotteria, on the corner of Bleecker and Morton down in the West Village, is fantastic. Tiny, but they have great risotto and gluten-free pizza and paninis.

Thank you both for the suggestions. As I said in the first post, I'm new at this since this is a recent diagnosis. Thank you both so much for the suggestions.
luvtheEmcee-I'm not too picky. The only food I must stay away from is Chinese food due to a soy allergy. My favorite would have to Mexican food, but I really like just about anything. Thanks again for the help!

I have a gluten allergy as well and live in NYC. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Sambuca is absolutely amazing and my favorite restaurant in NYC. There is a deli in Chelsea Market that I haven't tried yet but they sell gluten free sandwiches. It's called Friedman's deli.

One place you MUST try is S'Mac. It's difficult to get to - in the East Village - but it is amazing gluten free macaroni and cheese. About a million different kinds. Delicious.

Risoterria is the best place I have found for pizza. They also sell delicious risotto. And their desserts are to die for. Tiramasu, cupcakes, oreo cakesters, twinkies, black and white cookies, apple pie, etc, all gluten free.

Any other questions feel free to ask!

^ I was going to recommend S'mac!

Babycakes is gluten-free, I think. But it's a bakery.
