Buddie Beware or Heaven Hop from Anything Goes are good belting songs for mezzos/sopranos.

Try "Waiting For Life" from Once on this Island.

Unusual Way from Nine -Linda Eder sings it. I know for me the lower notes were hard at first for me and the high notes at the end sound beautiful if you can hit them. I have the sheet music and the high notes at the end are not on it, so I don't know if that is Something Linda Eder added. So it shows a very nice range.

You've Got Possibilities from It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's Superman! - A really cute song, the key gets higher towards the end and it's really great for belting.

I'm Not Afraid from Songs for a New World - not especially memorable but if you sing it right it could be very powerful

There's lots others... I just have to think.

ignore hot_brdwy_diva's saying that "i'm not afraid" is a good song to sing...it's not. the pianist will hate you, and that's a bad thing. plus (i know i've mentioned it on other threads..if you've already read it there, i'm sorry) at one college audition, the 3 girls in front of me sang it....you wouldn't want to be competing on the same song with THAT many people.

i would suggest "a new life" if you're looking for a ballad. it goes up to a d/d# at the end but if you can hit it strongly - i didn't hear that once at auditions.

i'm a soprano, and i sang "shy" from once upon a matress. i only heard one other girl doing it...but she didn't belt it which was sorta weird...it was completely head voice.

i've always thought of "waiting for life" as a mixed song...if you were to belt something from OOTI it would HAVE to be "mama will provide" but that's not really an audition song.

A good soprano song that could be belted is "If I Were A Bell" from Guys and Dolls.
