Hey, my friend asked me to help her pick an audition song for her school musical. She is an alto, and the song has to be belted. I don't really know any alto songs since I am a soprano and all of the music books I have are for sopranos. It has to be musical theatre. If someone could make any suggestions, I would really appreciate it. Thanks

The only thing I can think of right now is "Holding to the Ground" from Falsettoland, but I think it might go too high for a true alto, even it's well within the range of a high alto/mezzo-soprano.

"Holding to the Ground" is a great one. If you have a really strong belt you can definitely blow people away.

It only goes up to D, I think, so it shouldn't be too outrageous.

Andrew, tonight isn't about you! It isn't even about me!!! - [FD]

I like that one because it's in my range even when I have no range. :)

Come to Your Senses is pretty low. Also, What I Did for Love in the key of Ab and Nothing from A Chorus Line.

Is "Gimme Gimme" an alto song? I'm not sure of the line between alto and soprano, but it doesnt go that high.
