Gotta love the US Gov't

I emailed the Hd Information officer, at the American Embassy in Ljubljana, Slovenia with a very simple question asking how one gets to Piran, on the Adriatic Coast, when there doesn't seem to be a train station there.

The Hd Information Office is a Slovene national, and would know. Rather than answer my question, which would take at most 2 lines, I got this.....

Dear Sir:

Thank you for your letter. Unfortunately, due to the limitations

of our official mandate, budget and staff we cannot provide you with the

service you requested.

The U.S. Embassy Information Resource Center (IRC) in Ljubljana,

Slovenia provides current, comprehensive information about the United

States, its policies, social and political processes, foreign relations,

security, defense, legislation, the economy, trade, environmental

issues, and related subjects. The IRC in Ljubljana was established to

meet the needs of Slovene government officials, journalists,

researchers, scholars, business executives, and others with a

professional-level interest in the United States.

All the U.S. Embassies' Information Resource Centers throughout the

world have the same policy.

While we cannot assist you directly, the following offices and web sites

about Slovenia (in English) may be useful to you.

Here are some suggestions on how to get the information you need:

Go to the following web sites about Slovenia (in English):

Now, realizing how long it took her to respond to my email, and how little time it would have taken to answer my question...I responded

'Thank you for the response. It seems funny, to me, that it would have been much simpler and taken much less time, for you, to simply have answered my question. Perhaps things have changed as in the past, the US Embassies in Vienna, Prague, and Budapest have been helpful.

But I do appreciate the websites,

Hvala,

Scott'

I have never had any problem getting info from an embassy....until Reichsfuhrer Bush came to power.......ridiculous
