Yeah, I know. It's very sad. Prayers for him and his family.

One of my favorites. Such a shame.
Real Shame. I have every one of his albums and concerts on video or dvd. He truly is a national treasure.
He will live on in his music....

Dame, you have EVERY ONE of his concerts on video or DVD? He must have done hundreds and hundreds of concerts in his career. How much storage space do you have?
Namo,
Don't be a horses ass. I have everything that he has released. Which in addition to all his albums; includes 4 concerts and performances in other specials and benefits.
I love love LOOOVE Luther. May he rest in peace.

I went out with several friends tonight and we all had a moment of silence for Luther and then had a toast to his memory. Amazing how so many people -- different ages and ethnic groups -- had such a strong personal feeling for him.
I saw him in concert several times in the 80s. I have NEVER seen such elegance and panache from a performer (and his back up singers, as well) especially in an arena setting. It was ALWAYS about the music for him and he always surrounded himself with the best of the best. The artists who's careers he had a major influence on include everyone from David Bowie, Aretha, Labelle and so many others.
Apparently a new tribute album to him has been already in the works with artists such as Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, Wylcef Jean and others.
He shall be missed.

I saw him with Patti LaBelle - it can't get much better than that - ever.
I do hope he found some peace in his heart, eventually.
I also attended that tour he did with Patti Labelle as well as theone with Vanessa Williams. You are right Margo. Elegance is the perfect word.
