I'll get you all started:
Aim above morality. Be not simply good, be good for something.
WOW! What a great American.

Another thought provoking one:
As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives.

Posted: 3/4/07 at 4:24pmI have never found a companion that was so companionable as solitude. We are for the most part more lonely when we go abroad among men than when we stay in our chambers. A man thinking or working is always alone, let him be where he will.

Thoreau ironic story fo the day:
About 10 years ago, I drove with my mom from NYC to Boston. On the way into Boston (well, actually we were staying in Cambridge), we saw the sign indicating Walden Pond. We decided to stop and check it out. It was a Saturday afternoon at about 2 PM. As we turined into the driveway for the parking area, we were informed by a park ranger that we could not come in - the parking lot was full, and the park had reached its capacity. Walden Pond, a place synonymous with peace and solitude, was too crowded.

So you're who, what and where you should be. But I doubt your mentor, if alive today, would be typing away in the darkness to a sea of ephemeral humanity.
Being here on a website designed to serve those in the world who love the companionship of a theater, full of people eager to share a communal experience together seems so at odds with your agoraphobia.
I'm pretty sure Henry David Thoreau said that, but if he didn't FOX news will confirm it later in the week.

HD's use of Thoreau's name continues to irk the crap out of me.
Unless, of course, we deal with that night he spent in jail.

I've never been a huge fan of Thoreau, the man or the pos(t)er.
He has some great quotes, though.
The opposite of creation isn't war, it's stagnation.

What about his "Resistance to Civil Government" where he protested against the Mexican War as "the work of a comparatively few individuals using the standing government as their tool” to acheive their own wants?
Sound familiar, HDT?
Hmmmmmmmmm.

1. I was aware that they were on about the poster, not the real person.
2. I'm surprised how quickly my punishment was handed down! I deserved that.
deep-delving, dark, deliberate you would say
browsing on spire and bogland; but today
our sky-blue slates are steaming in the sun,
our yachts tinkling and dancing in the bay
like racehorses. We contemplate at last
shining windows, a future forbidden to no one.

Just a quick question that should have been asked at the Kangaroo Court of Friday of Valerie Plame:
If your status was either covert or classified, and if you did in fact meet with the Senate Democratic Policy Committee and with Nicholas Kristof, did you view it as part of your covert or classified work to meet with political groups and a columnist from the New York Times to discuss matters within your purview at the CIA?
