Has anyone ever had a really great experience in their life that has helped shape the direction of your life for which you are very thankful? I have been lucky to have had many. I just thought this would be a good uplifting thread for everyone to read.
My first was show choir it taught me to be me and not what everyone else wanted me to be (it also made me more of an extrovert), and now my Newman Center at school, the people involved with both these things and how they have supported me is amazing. I also love the experiences I've had with theatre. I guess I just feel really blest in my life. Growing up we didn't have much money, well at least comparatively to the average income around us. I also really didn't have any good friends through elementary and middle school, but I just feel so blessed by the opportunities that have been given to me. I guess also the bad in my life has helped me also. I just think its amazing that bad things can bring about wonderful things. I dunno I guess this thread is to share things that have given you hope, love, and peace in your life. It's so easy just to focus on the bad in out lives, but the fact that we have so many blessings in our lives deserves recognition too.

I always think of the bad one first - my motto is what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. On a happy note...
I guess my first experiences with singing. Getting solos because I had the "high voice" and performing at teh Dorothy Chandler Pavillion. I guess these were really important because they allowed me to have confidence in my voice, and believe that I had talent. I was happy to be good at something, and to be praised for it. Had I not had that confidence, I do not know what I would be like today.

Posted: 5/3/04 at 10:09amMine was a high school production of SHOW BOAT. We did 4 perfs over 2 weekends. The first weekend was awwwwful, a total stinkeroo. Then our musical director, a man loved by everybody, went and had a heart attack and died before the closing. We were shocked and totally moved. The last 2 perfs and especially the finale of Ol'Man River at the final Saturday night bows was the most emotional night of my life. It still brings tear to my eyes -- and that was 1969!! OH! the power of the theater. I knew I was on to something then.

Posted: 5/3/04 at 8:09pmIt sounds lame, but I assistant directed our musical "Seven Brides...". I was kind of perceived as quiet, and this opportuniy let my real personality shine through, it let people know I have a sense of humor. The cast was really down, and I talked for a little, and raised their spirits. Also, watchign, it's like "I did that!" I felt like the entire cast were my children!

Opening night I had trouble getting through "I Don't Know How to Love Him" but everyone was great and the cast just stuck together to finish our run. Mr. K was a wonderful person who always gave 100% to everything he did.
