Greetings from Edinburgh

I'm having a marvelous time in Edinburgh! The Old Town is quite beautiful and the sights from atop the Edinburgh Castle are breathtaking! In the castle I got to see 'The Stone of Sestiny'--the seat of Scone, upon which the historic Macbeth was crowned.

Also toured the Scotch Whisky exhibition--a Disney-like attraction, where you travel through the history of scotch whisky in a huge keg. The free samples afterward were a real treat, too!

So far the food's been terrific: a fish soup made with scotch, a delicious shank of lamb and jumbo grilled sardines.

The only problems I'm having is that everything here is uphill. Doesn't that defy the laws of nature?

I leave for Loch Ness later today.

Ciao!

I want to know what you saw at the Festival?

And did you buy that kilt? If so, which tartan...Wilson or McCormack?

Isn't Edinburgh Castle magnificent? Make sure you get to Hollyrood House Palace down the other end of the Royal Mile. That is where David Rizzio was murdered.

I miss Edinburgh! I've been to the festival twice - 99 and 01. It is such a beautiful city with the friendliest people I've met in the world.

I was just there again in April, DP. I love the burg! However, my favorite spot in all of Scotland is Inverness. It's daylight 20 hours per day and the people are amazingly friendly. Did you get felt up at the kilt fitting? Give my best to Nessie.

etoile...

most clever with the tartan reference! :o) *applauds*

A friend of mine served as a missionary in Scotland and told me that when a Scotsman is asked what is worn under a kilt they might replay "nothing is WORN under a kilt--everything works just fine!" LOL!

Where are we going, and why am I in this handbasket?
