The only thing offensive about that picture, is that one of the boys has the collar on his polo shirt "popped".
How, specifically, do any of those statistics have anything to do with a picture of a kiss in a yearbook? And your tax dollars aren't being wasted because of the kiss. They're being wasted because of the principal's censorship.
"Well, high school yearbooks are given to freshmen, sophomores and juniors. So the ages start at like, 13 years."
In my school and I'm sure many others, everyone can buy the yearbooks; however, the seniors are really the only ones who buy them, as a lot of underclassmen aren't aware they could buy one!
Those kids can go do crystal meth after school. It's not my point. Did I say teenagers don't kiss?
I must be crazy.... I think I need to write a letter to that school district. You think that if this had been allowed everything would just be fine at that school? This woman needs to be fired. God knows what else is acceptable there.
I said how my tax dollars are wasted. Those pictures are screened by administrators who filter out what they "deem" acceptable. Sounds like a waste of time and an opening a window for a lot of problems. What about people who would be offended? They could sue too.

The school should have set up guidelines for these pages in the first place. If they are going to offer pages in the yearbook to the students, there should have been rules in place all along. They should have applied equally to everyone involved.
What happened here was specific picking and choosing.
Personally I think that Bolden should be held finacially responsible for reprinting the yearbooks. She should also be forced to resign, obviously her homophobia is too much to have her stay in her position. But of course neither will happen.
Also, any teacher who actually participated in blacking out the pic should be disciplined.
an apology AND admitting it was homophobia!
the latest.
>> Kissing? These are children.
In a few more months, they're old enough to go into the Army and die for that public school system. If they want to swap spit in a yearbook, I say let 'em. That picture is about as offensive as the proverbial lemon wrapped around a brick.
And from the superintendent:
>> We have to own up to the fact that it was a homophobic moment
Yeah, nothing like a little "Let's squash someone's right" before you have to remember what it took to get you in that office, huh.

EDIT:
After reading this thoroughly I retract my first message. I didn't read the article.
Personally, I feel that all of the pictures showing kissing should have been censored simply because I don't think that is appropriate in a school environment. But I am just old fashioned.
Kissing or any display of affection wasn't allowed in my high school AT ALL regardless of who was doing the kissing, etc. We were immediately disciplined for such behavior so we waited until after school and respected our elders and what they said.
I feel that school is an institution of learning and that kissing and sexual behavior shouldn't take place in school. There is a time and place for everything and school is not the place for it.
But, still, what that lady did was W-R-O-N-G. If the pages of her school's year book are filled with hetero kissing then, this young man's pic should have been allowed. She set a precedent for her institution and if others were doing it then he should have been allowed as well.
