She then goes to New York to try to get work on Broadway. Changes her nameot June Havoc. Her big break is the role of Gladys Bumps in PAL JOEY. She and co-stars Gene Kelly and Van Johnson all get offers to come to Hollywood. Kelly and Johnson become big stars, while June ends up in supporting roles in crappy "B" movies. In the 1960's she writes and directs a play, MARATHON '33, about her marathon dancing experience. Julie Harris plays her. In the 1980's, she plays Mrs. Lovett in SWEENEY TODD on tour.
