I am staying away this year. But I wanted to wish everyone a very happy and safe pride weekend.

And it's in Boston too also as well.
Happy Pride Boston!
They have Gay Pride the same weekend as the Tonys?
Yes, because we are THAT gay.
And we have Priscilla playing at the Pantages. It really doesn't get gayer than that.
Girl.. I hate to tell you.. but over here the question is " They have the Tonys the same weekend as Pride? "
And I am ashamed.

I thought in LA they said, "What are the Tonys?"
That's in the Valley.

The always tall and newly out NBA player Jason Collins marched with Congressman Joe Kennedy in the Boston Pride Parade today, just like he said he would.
A safe and happy Pride was had by all in Boston today. The weather cleared up just in time and the crowds were tremendous. Even hours after the parade there were people dancing and celebrating on sidewalks, hugging passers-by clad in rainbow beads and pride stickers. It was quite a day.
That is so cool. Did you go Namo? Our parade is not till tomorrow. But I did go to West Hollywood today and people were out and being very festive. I am however still staying away tomorrow. Going to celebrate my pride by staying home and playing Cast Albums all day .

Yes, my dog likes to go because she thinks the applause is for her, perhaps because we clap for her whenever she does a trick. I know I like applause when I do a trick, so we passed that on to her.
As I said in that other thread, lots of banks and corporations (Staples?!) and politicians and churches. But also fun things like the student alliances and an anti-assimilationist brigade and gay seniors. Every year there's a new crop of newly out folks for whom the march is one of the most important/exciting things they've done. This year, Jason Collins just so happened to be among them. I think that's why I make myself go, even the years I'm not quite in the mood: for those who are feeling the rush of freedom for the first time in their lives, and for those who can't be there.
Good for you Namo. Those are all good reasons to go.
A shame you skipped the LA fete, Dame. I hadn't been down to the blvd for the parade in years, and it turned out quite lovely (though endless-- I think the last streamer covered flatbed lumbered by about 3 1/2 hours after the Dykes on Bikes had gotten the thing started).
A few of the organizations were celebrating their 30-year anniversary so there was a sweet nostalgic feel to a number of floats (or maybe they just haven't revised them in decades). Hearing the original I AM WHAT I AM blasting out of the speakers put me smack in the middle of 1983 all over again.
