Okay, so I am going to be auditioning for schools in a year. I would like to get some songs ready. Based on how I sound, are there any suggestions? I could reeeeeally use some help. My voice teacher and I are having a hard time finding songs.

Critiques would also be nice. Just to know what I could work on.
Thanks!
Uhh...
Well, first of all, you have a lovely voice. My only suggestion would be to try to smooth out the middle part of your voice when you're transitioning from chest to head. There were a couple times in that clip when you seemed to back down a little when you were going from low to relatively high notes. And it didn't seem stylistic; it just seemed like you weren't sure how it would sound, so you dropped your volume until you got more comfortable in your beautiful upper register. I hope that made SOME sense.
Anyway, the songs I've posted about in other song-searching threads hold relevant for you. These are the ones I mentioned in a previous mezzo-soprano thread.
"Meadowlark" from The Baker's Wife
"Teach Me Not to Love" from Triumph of Love
"I've Seen the World" from Berlin is Mine
"Every Day is Night" from Birds of Paradise
"Chimes" from The Capeman
"Mirage" from Goblin Market
"What is a Man?" from Pal Joey
"It's a Helluva Way to Run a Love Affair" from Plain and Fancy
"Gainesville" from Randy Newman's Faust
"Letters" from Baker Street
"If This is What We're Fighting For" from The Beautiful Game
"What's Your Rush?" from Bounce
"When Do I Get Mine" from Busker Alley
"I've Made Up My Mind" from Bingo
A good number of them are pretty off-beat (as in, not incredibly well-known), and a lot of them fit your voice quite nicely. They're all available on iTunes if you'd like to find them there and spend $14 for some song options.
Good luck!
And, again, beautiful voice.
omg thank you SO much! finally someone responded and was helpful!

I agree with lovelyspotlight. Your voice is gorgeous, but you need to work on negotiating between your chest and head voice. I would suggest looking into a lot of Rodgers and Hammerstein material, as I think almost any mezzo or even soprano material they wrote would suit your voice best.
thanks a lot! yeah i've always had trouble with my mix. but my voice teacher is really pushing me to work on it. hopefully it will get better! thanks again!
I'm also auditioning for Beauty and the Beast soon. Any song suggestions?
Thanks for the advice!
Clearly you'll be going for Belle. Well, I would hope...because you'd make a wonderful Belle, from what I've seen. Maybe that's putting a little too much assumption into the mix, but I don't think so. Anyway...something that flows and sounds pretty but that has spunk. Y'know, like Belle! Sorry I'm not spouting out any specific choices. But Belle isn't the typical ingenue, so try not to use anything too too sweet. I would maybe suggest something from a R&H musical, but you could run the risk of your song being overdone with that. Whether or not a song's overdone status matters at all sort of heavily depends on the size/level of professionalism of the theatre for which you're auditioning. If it's children's theatre or a smaller community theatre, something like "In My Own Little Corner" from Cinderella would be great. Cinderella and Belle share that lovely little spark of restlessness. I'm sure you get my drift.
Thank you!! and yes i am auditioning for Belle. Thanks so much for the suggestions
