two of the teachers wrote it. it was called "clever todie" dont ask...it was a hit! it was the second musical our school has done (oliver was the other. that was the 8th graders a while back!) and the teachers did a vote where it came in as the best play done at SLS. pretty cool, eh? well thats me on the right and my best friend sophia on the left during the big song "gypsy life" where i had a solo and it got so much applause (the whole song, i mean!) it was probably the best week of my life! we put it on 10 times twice a day every school day! well i know this should be on the student board, but oh well!
...
Translation, anyone?
terribly confused.
sorry. heres a synopsis that was in the playbill:
todie, a poor man, married with 6 daughters and a son, is devising a plan to get rich. the richest man in town, lyzer is not particuarally bright. he mises his money and will not spend any of it. todie tells lyzer that his daughter is looking at a husband and wants to borrow some silver spoons. the next day he returns with the spoon and claims that it gave birth! Lyzer falls for it and lets him keep the spoon as long as Todie gives him all of the "babies". Todie does this for many days. Lyzer's wife Tsura is upset because Lyzer is so stingy, she is forced to sit on boxes. Then travelers come into town and settle down. A few days later, Todie asks to borrow Lyzer's silver candle sticks. thinking these as well may give birth, Lyzer happily hands them over to Todie. In the market place the next day, Todie sells them and can finally afford to keep his family well.
take note: this takes place a long time ago in a Jewish town called Podiski
im bad at explaining things so sorry about the first post. but complain to my teacher about the synopsis!
