Those commercials are actually pretty funny. Just the idea of an obnoxious redneck shoving himself in some poor guy's face all day to hawk random products is rather hilarious to me.
These films are all classics. I have basically all of them, Ernest Goes To Camp, Ernest Saves Christmas, Ernest Goes To Jail, Ernest Scared Stupid, Ernest Rides Again, Slam Dunk Ernest, Ernest Goes To Africa, and Ernest In The Army. I used to have a tape of some of his commericals, but I don't know what happened to it. There were actually making a new one before he died called Ernest The Pirate.
Apparently, they found someone else to play Ernest now in new commercials, but even if that's true, no one compares to Jim Varney.
Most people don't know that Jim Varney was also a Shakespearian actor.
