Those commercials are actually pretty funny. Just the idea of an obnoxious redneck shoving himself in some poor guy's face all day to hawk random products is rather hilarious to me.
Welcome to my every day life when I walk into a store.

Yeah but Ernest was practically stalking Vern.
Those commercials had sort of a homoerotic subtext, knowwhutimean?

As did Jed's basket in the Beverly Hillbillies movie.

These films are all classics. I have basically all of them, Ernest Goes To Camp, Ernest Saves Christmas, Ernest Goes To Jail, Ernest Scared Stupid, Ernest Rides Again, Slam Dunk Ernest, Ernest Goes To Africa, and Ernest In The Army. I used to have a tape of some of his commericals, but I don't know what happened to it. There were actually making a new one before he died called Ernest The Pirate.
Apparently, they found someone else to play Ernest now in new commercials, but even if that's true, no one compares to Jim Varney.

I'm glad I'm not the only one to notice the tightness of Uncle Jed's jeans.

Yes, they have ALL of the footage of Ernest the Pirate! For some reason, they've never released it. I think they just have to edit it together.
Most people don't know that Jim Varney was also a Shakespearian actor.
