Hair Audition

What kind of production is it (high school, college, community...)? Also, all the songs you listed seemed pretty mild. Which one shows off your rock voice better? Which one are you most comfortable with? Which part do you want? Good luck!

I don't know- what about some Pat Benatar, Bonnie Raitt, Heart, Chrissy Hynde... Hopefully- some of the real experts on this board will chime in! I always liked the song "Alone"- it's pretty powerful. I like Janis Joplin's "Piece of my Heart". I'm just thinking powerful female rock ballads. Anyway, hopefully, your thread will get more hits!

Let's be practical. I have given this advice many times before and expect to do so for a long time to come.

Pick the song that is easiest to sight read unless you are taking your own well-rehearsed accompanist.

Many an audition has run aground on the shoals because the pianist couldn't play it.

The big one was in the 70s when so many young women sang The Miller's Son and so many accompanists did not learn it. Not pretty.

Hair may be a rock score, but many of the longer songs have a traditional structure and also require real voices. Find a rock song where the original singer had a legit instrument. Somebody To Love/Grace Slick is a real good example.

Hair might be a rock score, but in my opinion the music really doesn't have a hard rock edge. Keep that in mind. I'm sorry I don't have an real suggestions as to song to sing but good luck!
