I've just seen my first movie reviews of the new Hairspray movie musical on Ebert and Roeper and they were very enthusiastic.
Richard Roeper and his guest critic Dave Karger, Senior writer at Entertainment Weekly, had only good things to say about the movie.
Roeper actually said that he went in not expecting anything much but ended up loving it.
Good start.
I am always happy when reviews for movie musicals are positive...even if I don't "love" the movie myself. So this is great news to me!
P.S. I'll be seeing HAIRSPRAY for the first time next weekend, so this is not meant as a commentary on IT.
I just saw the film at a preview here in Miami - LOVED IT. It's a little different from soundtrack but a very funny, cute film, I will see it again!
I am excited that this film is being received so well. Hopefully it will keep pushing the movie musical trend. Well the good movie musicals.
On rottentomatoes.com, it is at 94% with only one critic not liking it. So far, it is off to a VERY good start.
