the film version of THE SOUND OF MUSIC, which had its world premiere at the Rivoli Theater, New York, March 2, 1965!
The hills are alive
With the sound of music
With songs they have sung
For a thousand years
The hills fill my heart
With the sound of music
My heart wants to sing
Every song it hears
Happy Anniversary, indeed!
a favourite thing, indeed...

They did indeed do 'something good'.
Foedor, thank you for reminding us of this wonderful reason to pop in SofM. However, damn you for making me feel sooooo old!
Poppng it in tonight.
Dame, we don't need to know about your sex life. Are you also gonna watch Sound Of Music?
You wait, little girl, on an empty stage, for fate to turn the light on.
Your life, little girl, is an empty page that men will want to write on...
I love this film!
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!
This film brought me to theatre!
"I go to the hills when my heart is lonely.
I know I will hear, what I've heard before.
My heart will be blessed, with the Sound of Music,
And I'll sing once more."
*sigh*
*tear*
The God's were smiling that day. :)
So 40 years ago today was the first time the world heard Charmian Carr scream
"WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE !!!!!!"
(Oh, that felt good)
Happy Anniversay, von Trapps!
The happiest musical about escaping from the Nazis in the world!
Hehehe...
Yeah...that's right...
Who cares about Nazi's when you've got brown paper packages tied up with string?
Wow! 40 years! Where did all the time go...
(hold up...what am I talking about, I'm only 34. . .)
This was one of those movies I never pubicly admitted to liking because it was considered in my surroundings to be a "sissy movie".
I remember sneaking a copy of the cassette into my walkman (remember those) just to listen to the soundtrack!
Recently I've come out of the closet and I'm proud to say I LOVE THE SOUND OF MUSIC!
Happy 40th!!!
What a classic! Happy Anniversary to TSOM! I took TSOM tour in Salzburg in the mid 1990's and had a blast seeing where many of the scenes were shot for the film. Many are actually quite far apart - and not right in town. The movie soundtrack is played on the bus portion of the tour - and yes, mostly everyone sings along.
