Republicans and Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee asked the White House to release documents relating to Harriet as White House attorney.
This afternoon, Bush refused their request, saying "It's a red line I'm not willing to cross."
Now, after the indictments are handed down, Bush can withdraw her name and say that he is striking a blow for the confidentiality of the president's relationship to his attorney.
So long, Harriet. NOW who's he gonna suggest?

I saw this earlier as well. The demand for the release of records gives him an easy out to withdraw the nomination.
But, with his current status, it will be interesting to see who will be next.

Another speculation is that Miers will withdraw as the indictments are announced, in the time-tested tradition of tossing the frisbie in the other direction so as to distract the media from the big problems.
If that doesn't happen, watch for a "Credible terrorist plan" to be revealed as a smokescreen: What do you think? Crashing a dirigible into a World Series Game? A Train load of Piranha derailed into Lake Huron? Anthrax over Disney World?
