I'll probably be getting braces soon, and I want clear ones because my crooked back tooth can't be fixed with invisilign. However, the receptionist had clear braces, and she had a very strong lisp. I don't know if the lisp was natural or caused by the braces, but I do a LOT of theatre and singing, and I don't want to have to abstain from it my senior year because I won't be able to speak properly.
Has anyone had clear braces/known anyone who had them? And if so, did it cause speech problems where there were none before? This is extremely important to me.

I didn't have any problems with my clear braces, except that you could clearly see them since the wires in them were not clear. The only difference between clear braces and regular braces is the material of the part that adheres to the teeth being plastic rather than metal.
I know that the wire is not clear, but I think it'd be less distracting onstage than colorful/metal ones. I know that the dentist said the brackets would be bigger than on metal braces, so I thought that might affect my speech more than normal braces would?
I had clear braces and I had no speech problems whatsoever while I was wearing them.

I have the regular braces (which might come off today, *squeak*) and I have never had a problem speaking/singing with them. You still talk/aing perfectly fine. The reason why the lady you talked has a lisp is probably because she's one of the unfortunate few that has to wear braces and a retainer at the same time (ouch). The only time you'll have trouble singing is when you get your rubber bans. Don't get me wrong, the rubber bans are FUN, but opening your mouth hurts like a mofo for a week.
