re: Have all the adults disappeared to the Off-Topic Board?

The cake was taken by WiCkEdRoCkS suggesting that Idina holds a record for least amount of absences during a Broadway run. I am blown away by that.
Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

I hope, even though numerically I am young (well i am 18 ), I am not lumped into that group.

Edit: to fix a smiley that came up.

*grins* popcultureboy, I can direct you toward some obscure Broadway boards that the Wicked zealots would never think to visit...

What I've noticed recently on the Main Board is a tendency to concentrate on the identity of the poster rather than the content of the post itself, and that's something that I only vaguely remember experiencing in my high school days of yesteryear... hence the assumption that the youngins must have been let loose at the keyboard.

Evelyn, they're so entertaining though!

Adult I am, and though I still post there with some regularity, sometimes it's like being in space -- you know, where no one can hear you scream. Unless I've got a fresh spin on, say, Idina's vibrato, I find that few there respond to my musings these days. I tried desperately to get a discussion going about an alternative interpretation of NIGHT MOTHER (Mama being more persuasive than the original Ann Pitoniak take on the character, creating more emotional suspense), for example. No takers. Hey, I don't take it personally, just feel my old fart frame of reference -- Broadway circa 1966 onward -- is sort of Ken Mandlebaum Lite, and not the taste of folks whose first show was LION KING.

Auggie while I know little about Night Mother, I would love to learn more about it. I too have tried to get threads where I can learn about Broadway's history and lesser known works. Sadly those threads are so few and far between it is not often that they get caught by the more informed posters on this board. Sorry I missed it. While I can't discuss I do read eagerly.
My avatar is a reminder to myself. I need lots of reminders...

Yeah, the threads which might actually be of interest scroll down and back too many pages too fast, with all of the silliness taking up prime real estate. So those of us who can't live on the board 16 hours a day (or can only rarely re: Have all the adults disappeared to the Off-Topic Board? ) miss them and then stop looking.

I'm with Auggie on this one.

I've tried to start threads on topics I find interesting (i.e., the experience of watching a play versus the experience of watching a movie,) only to watch them die rather quickly.)

However, we can't change the views and opinions of SO MANY who have a somewhat limited exposure to theater.

Just like Auggie said, you feel like you're in space and no one can hear you scream.

Rather than have the unpleasant experience of trying to fight a losing battle, I have merely decided to enjoy BWW as a pleasurable experience on the Off-Topic Board.

It's as simple as that.
